Fall Semester Back...
Hello again,
Sorry that it has been so long since I last wrote...Renee and I have a home now (townhome), praise God, and we live about ten minutes from my school. I really appreciate the easier commute, especially with my schedule this year. I am having a blast teaching drama and speech to middle school and high school, but my most favorite assignment is writing a Bible curriculum for my high school and getting the chance to teach it along with seven other teachers. What an amazing adventure. I miss the road and look forward to taking the rest of the country by storm, but in the meantime, I really have to say I LOVE what I do.
It is amazing to watch high school students take on the Word of God and wrestle with their own belief system, being invited and challenged to work out what they believe on their own terms, looking at all the options and evidence from all sides and drawing their own conclusions. If only we had been given that push and freedom to understand what one believes and why, I think a lot less confusion about what to believe would have come up in college and beyond.
We are learning the technique of Bible Study Methods right now and then on to an overview of different worldviews. Then we will get into the nitty gritty of asking those tough questions that most of us still wrestle with. I look forward to the findings these students make along the journey and the conversations that develop as we look for God in America.
I do hope that you are all doing well and that you will keep us in your prayers as we continue to do this work that was started this summer. Pray for financial backing for the many road trips that still need to be made to get the rest of our footage. Please pray for editing equipment so that Renee can work in-house and crank this footage out and get it in documentary form. Pray for the three of us in general, that God will have fun working out His best for us and in us. Let us know how to pray for you. That's our most favorite part of what we do. Sweet dreams!
